The New Zealand International Convention Centre was selected as a finalist for the Best Marketing Award at the International Congress and Conference Association (ICCA) 2016. The NZICC competed against Greater Bogota Convention Bureau, London & Partners and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

Callum Mallett, General Manager of NZICC Operations, presented the NZICC entry in front of a large audience of competitors and colleagues at the ICCA Congress in Borneo on 15 November.

The award went to a well-deserving London and Partners, after executing a hugely complex destination campaign "London is Open".

And while the NZICC didn't win, Mr Mallett says:

“It’s a great honour to have had the opportunity to present our entry on behalf of New Zealand, to such an esteemed panel of past winners, marketing experts and hundreds of peers from around the world. Just being part of this award programme was a win for us, especially against such strong competition."

The NZICC entry showcased how the team addressed the challenges of designing sales tools based on what the customers said they wanted.

"The development of an immersive interactive model came from answering the needs of our customers, the main goal was to allow our customers to get a real understanding of the NZICC, and what the building will be like when complete," says Sarah Burilin, Marketing Manager for the NZICC.

ICCA Chairman of the judges and BMA Moderator, Patrick Delaney of SoolNue, says:

“The BMA has become a unique centrepiece of the ICCA Congress, the only award in our industry that combines careful, detailed scrutiny of each entry by a team of past winners and other marketing experts with the voting input from hundreds of peers around the world.”
