NZICC announces its first live music performance: The Pogues – Rum, Sodomy & the Lash 40th Anniversary Tour

Auckland, New Zealand, 10 November 2025: For the first time since 1990, The Pogues return to New Zealand in April 2026 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of their landmark album Rum, Sodomy & the Lash. The album will be performed in full, alongside beloved favourites, with the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) set to host the Auckland show.

Featuring original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer and Spider Stacy, the line-up also includes special guest vocalists Daragh Lynch, Iona Zajac and John Francis Flynn, breathing new life into one of folk-punk’s most influential albums.

Ranked among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, the 1985 classic Rum, Sodomy & the Lash includes favourites such as A Pair of Brown Eyes, Dirty Old Town and A Rainy Night in Soho.

As one of the first music acts announced to perform at the NZICC, The Pogues mark a defining moment for the venue.

Prue Daly, General Manager of NZICC, said: “Announcing our first music artist marks the beginning of a new era for Aotearoa’s live entertainment scene. The NZICC is designed to bring people together through extraordinary experiences, and welcoming such an iconic band like the Pogues for their 40th anniversary is the perfect way to launch our live music programme, setting the tone for what’s to come.”
