Update: October 2017

Now 22 months into the construction of the NZICC, the steel and concrete is quickly rising 14 metres above street level and is keeping the five cranes and more than 400 workers on site each day busy.

Callum Mallett GM NZICC Operations, gives an update on the NZICC

NZICC Numbers:

  • 3,500 tonne of structural steel erected on site as of September 2017, approximately 42% complete (Sky Tower was 600 tonne) the total that will be erected by the end of the job is 8,300 tonnes.
  • 3000 tonne of reinforced steel installed at NZICC as of September 2017, we are approximately 68% complete. The total that will be installed by the end of the job is 4,455 tonne.
  • 19,000m3 concrete poured for NZICC so far (September 2017), this work is approximately 68% complete. The total amount of concrete that will be poured by the end of the job will be 28,492m³
  • 44,000m2 concrete composite flooring has been laid, total to be laid by the end of the job 73,000m²
  • 251 retention piles on the NZICC Site
