Showcasing the NZICC experience using new technology

The innovative design and technology behind the New Zealand International Convention Centre in Auckland has taken a significant step forward with the release of a series of immersive 360 degree videos of the interior of the NZICC.

Callum Mallett, GM NZICC Operations, says the new videos will allow potential customers to use their mobile devices to explore the exhibition hall, theatre and other spaces in the NZICC, as they will look once the centre is in operation.

These videos really bring the NZICC to life and they take our ability to showcase the various possibilities of this flexible, adaptable convention centre to the next level. This will help build on the hugely positive interest already shown in the NZICC by the conventions industry, and customers,” he says.

The new videos are the result of an ongoing partnership between the NZICC and Buildmedia, an Auckland-based 3D visualisation company. They follow the release of state-of-the-art interactive touch screens allowing prospective customers to experience the NZICC by looking down, onto and into each of the 3D floor plates.

Gareth Ross, Managing Director of Buildmedia, says his small team rose to the challenge of creating the 360 degree videos in partnership with the NZICC.

We’re so proud of pushing the boundaries with these videos, which again demonstrate the innovatory thinking New Zealand is renowned for around the world,” says Mr Ross.

Opening in 2020, the NZICC is being built in the heart of Auckland, and is expected to attract an additional 33,000 international visitors to New Zealand each year and generate $90 million of economic benefits to New Zealand annually. The NZICC will be capable of hosting conferences of around 3,150 people and one-off events of up to 4,000 people.
